It’s fair to say, in the last few weeks my focus has waned, not put any weight on, but not lost any either, I’ve crowned myself king of the maintain. If I was at my happy weight, life would be good, but I’m not and I need to be. Like most, life gets in the way, but it’s easy to blame everything going on and look for excuses, the truth is, I need a kick up the arse and I need it now.
I’m hoping my much needed re-boot is coming in the form of a challenge. A friend I know is a wheelchair user and has just completed a 10k race for charity, she’s also about to qualify as a personal training instructor for people with mobility issues. You’d think with all this going on, Dee doesn’t need to go to fat club, but as I’ve mentioned in the past, if you’re someone with a problem walking, it’s vital that you keep on top of the weight. After chatting the other day, we realised that we have both lost two stone and like me, she’s battling to get to the magic three, so……..that’s the bet, first one to receive their Slimming World three stone award wins. In true tradition, the prize is a trip to the pub, with the loser paying, yeah, I know it should be something like a health spa visit or salad for a week, but come on, we need something to motivate us, though the bragging rights themselves should be enough.
If you want to check out Dee, then have a look at her Facebook page “adapt enable inspire”, you can read her story and the amazing thing’s she’s doing despite the setbacks. You’ll also see that I’m definitely up against it and if you were a betting person, your money certainly wouldn’t be going on me. On a plus side, as I write this I’m in a David Lloyds club, having just had a swim and I plan to go back in this afternoon, there’ll be no Alcohol till Friday, (though there might be a slight slip on Wednesday as England are playing in the Euro’s semi-final). But despite this, I’m back, the weeks ahead are looking good and only one serious drinking session planned. My son’s stag has been ticked off and there are no family parties left, Glastonbury’s been and gone and both Wimbledon and the Euro’s end on Sunday. If you’re reading this Dee, I’ve got a message, I wish you all the best and hope you get there, but don’t expect to win.
