Run Jake run

All bad thing’s must come to an end and not shoving a sausage roll in my mouth for six months has certainly been a treat I’ve missed. I decided to give them up because I felt they may have been the cause of my lack of weight loss, I now know it’s just the alcohol, but that’s not what this blog is about, nor is it in anyway about me, I’ve done the challenge, let’s move on.

I said that I’d find a charity for people to give their money to, altogether, I managed 180 days and at 3p a day, that means they all owe £5.40. If anyone read my last blog entitled “Cancer”, they will know that my niece lost her life to this terrible disease last year, in her honour and to raise some money, her son Jake is going to do the Great north run, despite never running anything except a bath. The charity he chose is Macmillan cancer support, who helped look after his mum and is something he feels very passionate about. I’m going to add the link below and would ask that everyone who agreed to sponsor me and anyone else who wants to contribute, please click it and give Jake some much needed encouragement.

His mum Helen would be extremely proud of him, as she was of all her three children, a very special lady, who cared deeply for everything she did, especially her job in children’s services. Humour shone out in ordinary conversations and we’d spoken about the possibility of writing a blog, telling the lighter side of her work, sadly that’s not going to happen. I have many memories of her as a child, from when I used to visit and stay with my sister, all of them are happy though she said something to me last year that made me sad. Helen told me that when I visited, they were the best times and she wished that I’d always stayed longer, whilst in some ways that was a compliment, I understood what she was trying to tell me, I then realised why she chose the career and why she was so good at it. Because of her positive and caring outlook to life, she was always destined to meet a good man and in Paul, she did, I know he will be embarrassed to read this, but I know how much he cared for her and how much he’s hurting, there can never be replacements to our loved ones, but a small reminder from others to how special they were, can just give you the lift you need at the time it’s needed most and I hope the child advocacy award named in her honour at the University of Sunderland has gone a small way to doing this. A wonderful, unique lady, who is missed by those that loved and knew her X

I’m Keith

Welcome to my blog. I’m on a mission to lose weight in order to have a much needed operation, that will hopefully help me regain the gift of mobility. As the title suggests, I also plan to become a fittie, though that might require some plastic surgery. Like the whole population of the world, things have been a bit shit since 2020 and eating all those sausage rolls during lockdown didn’t help. If you want the full story, then read the about page, but if I were you, I’d just crack on with my hopefully humorous anecdotes about life as a fat disabled guy.
